Antonella Mellini | Resonance – Global Energy Network

11 - 26 aprile 2026 | Auditorium Sant'Ilario, Corso G. Garibaldi 17, Piacenza, Italia

The Auditorium Sant’Ilario in Piacenza, an ancient deconstructed Romanesque church, hosts Resonance – Global Energy Network, a site-specific installation by Antonella Mellini. This exhibition marks a pivotal milestone in the evolution of the Menhir Project: a choral system of 49 sculptural elements investigating the tension between matter and frequencies, in a constant resonance between the artwork and the observer.

Within the nave, Mellini articulates a rhythmic path where ancestral vertical forms establish a volumetric dialogue with everyday vessels containing water. The installation follows a symbolic progression that transforms the architectural space into a field of perceptual resonance: from the embryonic forms at the entrance, the works evolve into a circular arrangement reminiscent of prehistoric megaliths, defining a new spatial and temporal order.

The core of the inquiry lies in the connection between the installation and the visitor's body. Water acts as a physical and conceptual conductor, activating a dimension of resonance that links material language to invisible perception. In a rarefied atmosphere, light isolates each sculpture, transforming it into an active node of a global network. The writing, sealed within the depths of the works, persists as latent memory: a layered trace that activates a complementary polarity between primordial gesture and contemporary language.

Each element of the installation functions as a frequency point within a network that transcends geographical contingency. Resonance is thus framed as an interrogation of the threshold between physical elements and the conceptual dimension—an invitation to reconnect with the archaic through a minimalist rigor that fuses matter, light, and vibration into a single living organism.
