Antonella Mellini | BUTTER
Solo Exhibition investigating form and spatial perception.
Manuel Zoia Gallery is pleased to present BUTTER, a solo exhibition by the artist Antonella Mellini. The exhibition showcases a body of work that delves into the artist’s investigation of the nature of matter and its capacity for formal and plastic alteration. The inquiry originates from a formal intuition that challenges the traditional rigidity of sculptural substance. In this series of works, the chromatic palette of the Menhir Project shifts toward organic tones of cream and pale yellow, utilizing the material and plastic quality of butter as an element of formal transition and energetic dynamics.
Butter investigates the relationship between the ephemeral dimension and volumetric permanence. In this body of work, the nature of the primary matter—characterized by a state of vulnerability and thermal receptivity—is juxtaposed with the archetypal stability of the Menhir. The exhibition articulates through distinct sculptural clusters and introduces a significant formal evolution through the aerial suspension of the artworks. By showcasing suspended Menhirs, Mellini disrupts conventional environmental coordinates, presenting a clear invitation to the viewer to alter their point of view and reconfigure the relationship between the body, volume, and the exhibition space.
